Not particularly well-written, but an interesting idea) A rare "clown moon" occurs in a small town. An interesting take on issues of the day (and incorporating clown zombies), with some humor thrown in.ģ) "Under a Clown Moon" by Jim Goforth. All color has been banished from people's lives and grays are the norm - so as to not make anyone think you have the clown disease (which involves a very colorful transformation). Well-written, and another good attention-grabbing first sentence.) A Clown Disease is rampant in the land, spread similarly to other sexually transmitted diseases - only, no known cure. An "average Joe" is forcibly kidnapped and inducted into a religious clown cult. The first sentence grabs your attention, and the writing continues in this fashion. (I give a grade of "B", maybe even a "B+". Three are good, two are decent:ġ) "The Church of the Divine Greasepaint" by Michael Fisher. I found only five short stories that were worth reading in this anthology. Maybe if the best of both volumes was collected into one volume there might be a descent collection of short stories - I don't know. I know that there is a second volume published now (haven't read it). But, far too few for me to recommend this collection. This collection of 18 pieces (one is a poem, one is an essay, the rest are short stories) is mostly of poor quality.
